POP Mail Settings

Outlook Express

  1. Run Outlook Express
  2. Click on the Tools menu and can either choose Accounts...
  3. Click the Add button and choose Mail
  4. Display name is your name as you wish it to appear click Next
  5. Select I already have an email address..., type your email address and click Next
  6. In Email Server Names
    1. The incoming mail server is POP3.
    2. Incoming mail (POP3) server is yourdomainname
    3. Outgoing mail (SMTP) server is yourdomainname
    4. click Next
  7. Internet Mail Login
    1. Account name is your email username. ie fred@yourdomainname - same as your email address
    2. Password is your email account password.
    3. click Next
  8. If asked, select your connection method and click Next
  9. Click Finish
  10. Click the Properties button to edit the profile.
  11. Click the Servers tab
  12. Under Outgoing Mail Server, check the My server requires authentication box.
  13. Click OK then click Close

Outlook 98/2000/XP

  1. Run Outlook 98/2000
  2. Click on the Tools menu and can either choose Accounts... or Services (your installation should have one or the other)
Tools menu -> Accounts...  version
  1. Click the Add button and choose Mail
  2. Display name is your name as you wish it to appear click Next
  3. Email name is your email address, click Next
  4. In Email Server Names
    1. The incoming mail server is POP3.
    2. Incoming mail (POP3) server is yourdomainname
    3. Outgoing mail (SMTP) server is yourdomainname
    4. click Next
  5. Internet Mail Login
    1. Account name is your email username. ie fred@yourdomainname - same as your email address
    2. Password is your email account password.
    3. click Next
  6. Select your connection method and click Next
  7. Click Finish
  8. Click the Properties button to edit the profile.
  9. Click the Servers tab
  10. Under Outgoing Mail Server, check the My server requires authentication box.
  11. Click OK then click Close


Tools menu -> Services  version

  1. Click the Add... button or select your profile from the list and choose Properties...
  2. If adding a new profile, select Internet Email and click OK
  3. On the General tab fill in the name you wish to give this service, your name and email address.
  4. Click on the Servers tab. 
    1. Outgoing mail (SMTP) is yourdomainname
    2. Incoming mail (POP3) is the name of your host server as yourdomainname
    3. Account name is your email username.
    4. Password is your email account password.
    5. Under Outgoing Mail Server, check the My server requires authentication box.
  5. Click the OK button. An Add Service To Profile box will appear. Click the OK button, exit the Outlook email program and re-start it so that your new Service will take effect.
